Oracle JINITIATOR Installation Instructions

Firefox 2 with Jinitiator for Banner 6.0

Before you begin:

This document contains instructions for installing the required browser for using Banner 6.0 with the correct Java (JAR) files.
Please make note of the password: isas

NOTE: Firefox 2 is the recommended browser for the INB 6.x.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your local IT representative, or the HU Help Desk (62020).

1. Open your current web browser to "http://banner.howard.edu".

2. In the middle of the page you will find: Firefox2 rebuilt for Banner 6.0 click it one time.

3. After clicking the icon you should see: File Download Box choose "RUN".

4. After choosing "RUN" File Downloading Box the file should download successfully.

5. Once complete you should see: Option Dialog Box choose "RUN".

6. Now you should see a license agreement: Permissions Dialog Box choose accordingly.

7. If you choose "YES" to license agreement, you should now see: Location Dialog Box choose "NEXT" do not change directory .

8. Now you should see: Step 1 choose "NEXT.

9. Now you should see: Step 2 choose "I accept" and click "NEXT".

10. Now you should see: Step 3 click "NEXT".

11. Now you should see: Step 5 don't launch firefox, uncheck the box and click "FINISH".

12. Now a confirmation dialog box should appear: Jinit 1 choose "YES".

13. You should now see: Jinit 2 choose "NEXT" do not change directory.

14. Now you should see: Jinit 3 choose "OK".

15. Now click on "start>all programs>mozilla firefox>mozilla firefox" and open the browser.

16. Go to the "tools>options" menu at the top of your firefox browser: Step 6 and UNCHECK "Enable Java" and restart browser.

17. If all goes well you should be able to perform Banner 6.0 functions from within Firefox 2.0.
