Oracle 9i JINITIATOR Installation

Before you begin:

This document contains instructions for installing Oracle JInitiator using Internet Explorer.

NOTE: Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for the INB 6.x.

NOTE: The user must be Administrator to install jinitiator

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your local IT representative, or the HU Help Desk (62020).

1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE).

2. In the IE window select Internet Options from the Tools menu.

3. In the Internet Options window, select the Security tab.

4. Select Custom Level button.

5. In the Security Settings window, click the Enable button next to the following settings:

Download signed ActiveX controls

Download unsigned ActiveX controls

Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe

Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins

Scripts ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting

Downloads > File download

Downloads > Font download

Scripting > Active scripting

Scripting > Scripting of Java applets

6. Change the Reset custom settings to Medium.

7. Click the OK button.

8. Click and install the jinitiator 1.3.1.9 located on http://banner.howard.edu

9. Click the next button.

10. Click the finish button to exit and restart. (After restart login as regular user).

11. In the IE browser window that is open on your desktop, log in to the HU Banner Portal: http://banner.howard.edu.
